Day 284: Martha and Injection

I woke up and got ready, since I had my shoulder injection today.  Originally, I put on jeans and a tee, but then realized they would have to get at my shoulder and I didn't want to have to wear a gown.  I looked around for a tank that would allow access and wouldn't get in the way, as they put that brown sterile dye all over, but I couldn't find anything.  Most of my clothes are back at the house in Heights, now.

I looked for a strapless top, but to no avail.  I did have a few dresses that would work, so I grabbed a black one and threw on some flats and a sweater over it.  It turned out to be a good choice, since all I had to do was remove the sweater and they could do the injection.

I  waited a minute before they called me back.  They took my blood pressure and then took me back to the room with the x-ray machine.  I laid down on a table and they put dye on my shoulder, then laid a marker on my shoulder and took a few x-rays to determine where to make the injection.  He injected anesthetic, then waited and injected some dye, then the steroid.

It didn't hurt too bad.  I was walked back to a recovery area where they took my blood pressure again, then the doctor came and moved my arm around and gave me a "pain diary" to fill out for the next week. I headed home, but ran by Starbucks to pick up some drinks for my mom and I.

When I got home, I tore my room and folders apart looking for the second POA Ty said he mailed to me.  I found the note he said he mailed it with, but I didn't have the envelope and there was no date on the card.  I looked all over, but found nothing.

I did find the original.  I decided I would use it and just go with it.  I figure if it doesn't work, then we'll just reschedule for when Tyler is home.

Shortly after I dealt with all that, Martha showed up.  She came to visit, since it's too hard for me and Eis to go see her.  She had brought a dress pattern and some material and we set to work making a dress for Eisley.  She also bought and outfit, headband, and onesie for Eis.  The headband is adorable -- it all is, but the headband, especially.

I ironed the material and she showed me how to lay out and cut the pattern onto the fabric.  She showed me how to put it together, then sew it up.  It was challenging to get the machine to sew correctly.  We had to rethread it a few times and I had to make a new bobbin, but it turned out alright.

The dress is really cute and reversible.  I like it a lot, but is large, despite being for sizes 16-19 pounds.  Oh well, she'll grow into it.  Better too big than too smile.

While working on the dress, I also had to cook dinner.  As I cooked, and continued sewing, my shoulder began to hurt worse and worse.  By the end of the night when I was heading to bed, I could barely move it.  Yay steroids.

I'll say it made picking up Eis throughout the night, when she'd need a diaper change or to nurse, completely excruciating!  I was swearing a bit every time I had to pick her up.  It didn't help that I couldn't sleep well on it and Eis was awake from midnight to 0200.

Needless to say, I was exhausted when I had to wake up at 0715.
