Eis slept pretty good last night. I woke up, showered, and she was waking up just as I got dressed. I nursed her, then gave her to my dad, so I could dry my hair. When I came out, I fed her some Cheerios until my mom got home.
She took over watching Eis, while I gave Puck a pedicure. Eventually, it was time for her to nap. I put her down and read some HP until she was close to falling asleep. I gave my dad the monitor, then grabbed my mom and went to the car.
We drove down to Lowe's, since I wanted to buy some materials to make something for Eisley. I had decided that I didn't want to spend money on a walker, since I wasn't sure it would help her to learn to walk and it seemed like a lot of money to spend on something that she'd use for two months. Plus, we don't have the right floors for a walker. Either there's rugs or steps or lips or grout and it'd just be too much trouble.
I figured I could come up with something better. I decided that if I had two bases connected by a rope, then I could use a pulley (upside down) to run along the rope and she could be in something that was hooked up to the pulley.
I quickly realized that any "base" would not be able to hold her weight without tipping over. I decided to look around the house and yard to see where I could set up. I finally decided that there was a perfect spot on the deck between a bracket and a post.
I picked out a pulley, then some new rope. I then decided I needed a D-ring or some type of hook to attach the seat to the pulley. I grabbed another small pack of rope and paid for my goodies. When I got home, Eis was still asleep, so I headed outside to start setting up. My dad asked what I bought and when I told him, he said, "Oh boy." I don't think he was very confident in my plan.
I got the rope around the bracket and post and put the pulley on before I tied it all up. I came inside and grabbed the pieces of her doorway jumper, which I had previously taken apart. I put the fabric seat back on the frame and put the frame back together. I connected all the straps back up and fastened it to the pulley.
I put her in it and fiddled with the height. I quickly realized that the rope was not tight enough, but it was ok for a few minutes. After a few minutes, she needed a diaper change, so I tightened the rope while my mom changed Eisley's diaper. Eis did really well. She didn't walk, necessarily, but she did enjoy being outside and in the "run."
I walked her from side to side. However, for the most part, I just sat on the deck while she jumped and spun around next to me. We were outside for an hour and a half! Don't worry, I had a sun hat on her, along with sunscreen on her arms.
She went down for a nap and I ran back to Lowe's to buy some paint. I decided I wanted to paint the birdhouse my parents had on their deck and it should be pretty.
I took a few pics of us outside today, but I need to get the on the computer and up to flickr.
I could die with anticipation of seeing Tyler again.
