T-Minus One, D-Day, (Plus) Days One and Two

2 June was a whirlwind of a day.  We ran errands all day, did some last minute things like get more life insurance, and ate at Red Monster -- as per tradition.  We packed a bit more of the house up and went to see the 1202 showing of the newest X-Men movie -- it was phenom.
We were left with one 0240 trip to Walmart, then home to collapse into bed.

D-Day -- 3 June -- we woke at around 0900.  He called AT&T to cancel his phone and change my plan, we updated his phone and laptop one last time, then packed his rucksack and left for weapons draw.  It was miserably hot outside and not much better in the hanger, especially considering there was no AC on, but the hangar doors were open, so that helped.  I melted into a leather chair for about two hours before they boarded the white busses and eventually headed to WFH.
I stopped at the Fort Hood Street Starbucks where they took their sweet time making my green tea frapp, then I stopped at a Shoppette to buy Ty some purple gatorates on my way to the WFH Fitness Center-o-Sadness.
We socialized and meandered for an hour, then chatted with my mom when she showed up, before they gave the "ten minute" call.  I'm pretty good at keeping my cool, but my mom was crying and wouldn't stop talking.  I regained some composure so we could have our teary, yet graceful, last hugs and kisses and words of "I love you."  I stayed strong for Ty and he for me, then I headed out the door toward the car, but was stopped in my tracks by the line of soldiers heading to the busses.
When Ty walked by, I was able to breach the rope fence and run across without causing a disturbance.  I dragged my mom toward the cars so we could head "home."
Our evening was filled with Old Chicago's Thai Pie and packing/organizing the stuff left in the house.  We went to bed at 2200, but I didn't go to sleep until 0000 cause Ty was able to get wi-fi in Maine and chat with me for a bit.

Day 1 -- Packed. Cleaned. Organized. Ate Starbucks.  Drove around until we found our way to Time Warner Cable to return our box and router.  Cleaned. Packed. Showered.  Then I left my pup with my mom and headed to Belton.
Was only 10 minutes late to Ashley's house, but we jumped in the car and headed up to Granbury for Danielle's wedding.  The hotel was nice and about 20 min from the house/wedding location.  Unfortunately, it was a million degrees and we were sweating profusely most of the night.  Danielle was stunningly beautiful, but not her standard smiley self, which was disconcerting.  I was genuinely worried she might turn tail and run, but she went through with it... sans smile.  After she ate she got a huge drink in her hand and kept it full all night, which brought out her smile, though I'm concerned she'll seriously regret her stoic and drink-in-hand photos.  It's a shame she felt like she had to drink that much to "get through the night."  Ouch.
Ashley and I went to sleep around 0030 after some chat.  She and Stephanie were kind enough to give me a bed to myself.  I'm convinced it was the best idea considering how insanely much my belly and back hurt all night long.  At one point I prayed for a more obvious sign than just pain if I were to actually be going into labor.  Gas pain gave way to genuinely agonizing back pain, which continued on into...

Day 2 -- 5 June.  Woke up. Dressed. Free Baymont Inn breakfast.  Return drive to Belton. Drive to Heights.  Pack up a few more items.  Turn off toilets.  Try to get truck into garage with no luck.
I decided that backing up would be smarter because then no wheels have to go up over the "step."  My fear was gassing too hard and plowing into the garage wall and ruining everything.  I turned the truck around and backed it in, but luckily Anthony -- the neighbor -- came in to help and I had him just take over.  Between him driving, and me and another kid helping with distance between the front and back, it was a cinch.  That truck is huge and barely fits in the garage.
I then drove to Austin -- arriving around 1500.  Puck was totally stoked to see me.  It's possible he thought I'd left him forever with Momi and Paup -- neither of which happened to be home.  Puck and I read, relaxed on the bed, then I took a nap.  My parents came home with dinner and I talked them through some iPad apps and other technical things.
There are only 14 minutes left in day 2 and I'm heading to bed.
