Day 214: PJs

I didn't change out of my PJs all day.  That, right there, should tell you how eventful today was!

Eisley slept a five, then a four, then a three hour stretch last night.  Not bad, if you ask me.  I got a four, four, three, then was up for the day around 0930.

I woke up and at some point in the morning, I remembered one of my dreams.  The only part I really remember was eating a ton of candy.  I couldn't stop.  I had zero self-control and it was terrible.  I knew I shouldn't have eaten even one piece, but I just kept eating and eating and it was all so delicious, but I kept thinking, "But I'm running out of time to lose the weight!"  However, that apparently was not enough to make me stop.  It was truly a terrible feeling.

I woke up feeling bad that I'd eaten so much, then I realised why I felt so awful -- not physically, but emotionally and mentally -- and that is when the dream came back to me.  It's strange that dreams can alter how you feel once you've awoken.  Movies can do the same thing... at least they do, to me.

I watched Last Night with Keira Knightly, today.

It was about her character, Joanna, and her husband, Michael; they go to a work party for him and she sees a woman he works with, played by Eva Mendes, flirting with him. When they get home, they get in an argument because she says he's attracted to Eva and he tries to deny it.

Eventually, hours later, they make up and the next day she write him a note, then sticks it in his work shirt that he's packed for his business trip. He leaves for Philly with a guy, Andy, and Eva, for a couple nights. Joanna goes out for coffee and runs into an old flame, Alex, then agrees to meet him later to catch-up.

At their business dinner, Eva and Michael keep looking at each other, while Joanna and Alex chat. The audience can tell that Alex was in love with Joanna, though he never told her, but she's committed to Michael.

Alex convinces Joanna to go to dinner with some friends of his, meanwhile Eva and Michael go out for drinks alone. Joanna and Alex go to walk Andy's dog, since he's in Philly, too, and discuss their feelings. Alex is seeing someone, and still never admits his love for Joanna, but he alludes to it. She gets mad because she thinks he never would have settled down and because he never made the effort when they were together. They get locked out of Andy's and take the dog to a party where they re-connect with Alex's friends.

Meanwhile, Eva and Michael talk about not being responsible for their actions, then go to another bar and discuss being married, but being attracted to someone else and how he had his hand against her leg at some event and she liked it. She leans in and kisses him. He says he's married and she said, "But it still felt nice." After that, they take drinks and sneak into the hotel pool. She strips down and gets him to do the same, then they chat in the pool.

When we go back to Joanna and Alex, they go and chat up on some roof, then on their way down, he kisses her while in the lift. She kisses him back, then they go to his hotel room. She tells him about her argument with Michael and how he's in Philly with the girl, but she doesn't think he's doing anything. Alex tries to kiss her again, but she says she can't do anything else and still be able to look Michael in the eye. Alex doesn't push it, but just goes to the bed (dressed) and he tells her to come sit with him. He puts his arm around her and she falls asleep.

On the other hand, as Michael and Eva get up to her hotel room, he follows her inside, then pushes her against the wall and starts making out with her. They move it over to the bed, then he takes off her dress.

The next morning, Alex has to go back to France and he and Joanna have a sad goodbye, still not admitting their feelings for one another. She goes back to her apartment and sits around, drinking coffee, and being sad. She's sad that he's gone and they never got to see where things would go (in the past) and she's sad that she has feelings for him and kissed him because she's married and that's wrong.

However, when we see Michael that morning, he's in bed with Eva. He gets dressed and tries to say something to her, but she says she doesn't want to talk about it. He says, "I never meant for it to happen," and she says, "Not even the second time?" And the audience (me) is disgusted by him. He goes back to his room and as he's changing clothes, he finds Joanna's note that says, "I'm sorry about our fight. I guess I overreacted. I know you. I love you." (or something like that) and he packs up his stuff and flies back to New York, leaving Andy to cover for him at the meeting.

When Micahel gets to the apartment, he notices Joanna has been crying and lies and tells her they finished up the meeting early. He hugs her and says he loves her. As they're hugging, he sees her high heels on the floor and when they pull apart, they look at each other and the movie ends.

It's an aggravating movie because Alex is so handsome and genuine and you can see that he truly loves her.  She has feelings for him, but ignores them because she's married to Michael and they've been together for a few years and she doesn't want to waste that.  Michael appears to be a good guy, but as the movie progresses, his character becomes less upstanding and more... pathetic.  He lets Eva persuade him and seduce him, yet he's the one who ends up making the move and sleeping with her.

The movie leaves you to guess what happens, which is an interesting idea, but mildly irritating.  I wanted to see what was said. I wanted to see her leave him and go to Alex.  I wanted him to feel bad and know how much he messed up.  Though it also made me wonder how other people would feel after they saw the movie.  The feelings your left with all depend on what kind of person you and and with which character you associate.

I can't personally connect with any of them, fully.  I liked Joanna, though I don't think she should have kissed Alex back or even let him think he could kiss her in the first place.  I suppose all that starts with not even agreeing to see him in the first place, but ignoring that...she shouldn't have kissed him.  I'm glad she didn't do anything else, it gives her more credibility and makes her a better character.  You can tell she had tried to give Alex a chance in the past but he was busy and didn't realise she wouldn't wait around forever.

When she and Michael were initially arguing, she brought up the fact that they met in college and they're totally different people now than they were when they met.  I assumed they've been together 5-7 years altogether, since they've only been married three and didn't get married until after college.  She wondered if they were together because they'd put in so much time that it was just easier... or something along those lines.  It was a concept that was brought up a few times throughout the movie.

I thought about the people I know that married their college sweethearts or, worse, high school sweethearts.  I know how hard it is for Tyler and me because even now, we change from year to year and it's difficult doing that when not being around one another for a year at a time.  It's like a new relationship every year and new can be complicated.  Knowing someone is a source of comfort and having to constantly get-to-know someone is challenging.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie because it made me think and feel beyond what I think and feel on a given day.  However, I didn't like the cheating because it's just so horrible and I would hate being cheated on and thus, could never do it.  I wouldn't want someone to ever feel the way I think it would feel to be cheated on... betrayed, stupid, worthless, dirty, and like I'd wasted all my time with that person.  I suppose it helps that I can't think of anyone that I would ever love like I love Tyler.  I can't even think of a celebrity that could make me stray.

There are plenty of handsome celebrities that would be great to meet and get a hug from, but that's about it.  Sadly, I know men think (and feel) differently, so I know Tyler could not say the same thing and mean it.  I can think of a few women he would be easily temped by:  Katy Perry, Megan Fox, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, and possibly Serinda Swan, just to name a few :)

For those who don't know Serinda Swan, she's on Breakout Kings, and, in my opinion, is a prettier version of Megan Fox:
